Antakya Peshtemal
On February 6th, several devastating earthquakes hit Turkey. Many thousands of wonderful people lost their lives and those surviving have not only lost their families and close ones but also their motivation to keep their businesses alive, particularly when their workspaces and equipment have been damaged or destroyed.
As a part of our upcoming collection, we are determined to work with communities from the earthquake areas to promote their artisanal work. In collaboration with local weavers, we have developed a limited edition in a line of high quality peshtemals. By supporting these artisans now, we know we are not only enabling earthquake victims to regain their living but also promoting the continuation of traditional crafts and skills.
Antakya, the capital of Hatay Province in the south of the country, is close to the Syrian border, which was one of the worst hit areas. It has a rich history dating back to ancient times and has been a bridge in the continuation of traditional local crafts passed on to us today. We named the towel "Antakya" to honor our skillful weavers and the culture of the city itself.
Order from our Limited-Edition Antakya Collection and be a part of this cultural and historical endeavor.
